"For the Pearl in A-Fi-Pearl..."

The Pearl in "A-Fi-Pearl" is reflective of my late Maternal Grandmother who is also called, "Pearl". Mama Enid as she was called by her Children and Grandchildren, loved fashion so dearly. And just like a pearl, she was hard on the inside and vibrant on the outside. She was a strong woman that had a rare, admirable, and energetic personality. Mama Enid taught herself how to sew in her youth and created clothing for herself and her children. Once she was confident with her skills, she began making and selling clothes as a way to provide for her family. She had a wide collection of "church hats" and dresses, skirt suits and tops for every occasion! My store is dedicated to this little Caribbean woman with the big persona. 

 Exceptional

Exceptional: unusually good, deviating from the norm, outstanding, not typical. I was looking for ways to describe my brand and the word, “Exceptional”, stuck out to me. As woman that does not like to blend in, standing out has always come naturally to me. I love to express myself in my appearance. “When you look good, you feel good”. And that is my thought whenever I design something for my customers. I want them to feel good and look good in my designs. I am most proud of the fact that I am a self-taught fashion designer. I have learned more on my own, than I have in the design schools I’ve attended.
